Kenya Anglican Men Association(KAMA)
Rev. Simon John Kahuthu
KAMA (Kenya Anglican Men Association) was started in the year 1993.The late Rev. Naftary Muriu Nganga was commissioned by Bishop John Mahiaini to start the Department. They introduced the title D.F.U. (Diocesan Father’s Union).Men themselves opposed the Department, saying it was another way of creating ,raising of Diocesan money. It was then changed to D.F.A (Diocesan Father’s Association) in the year 1995.They were given the first Sunday of November each year to have fundraising, meant for church development but to give the Diocese 10% of total amount collected that day to sustain the office.
There before, the Diocese had Sunday School Department, Youth, Mother’s Union, Development and D.M.A but there was no office, where men can take their problems.Men were also ignored in the country and taken as Lawmakers and other times as the Lawbreakers. As men continued to have meetings, they were encouraged that they can stand by their own being a Department .
In 1999, under the Bishop Rt. Rev. Julius Gatambo, the name was changed to KAMA (Kenya Anglican Men Association) with the coordination of the late Ven. Canon Titus Njuguna .
