Mothers union rafiki centre
This is a farm that is under the bigger Rafiki Home which was donated by the late Mwenda. The land is located on the Muranga Sagana road just before you cross the Mathioya bridge. For a long time the land had been lying idle. The Bishop and the M.U President Mama Esther decided to make use of the land by doing dairy farming. Within the farm we plant maize for silage and also nappier grass which is an all weather fodder crop. We also have a section for horticulture e.g. cabbage, sukuma spinaches and such. Plans are under way to have a tree nursery bed to provide our Church farms with seedlings during our Environment day.
The Dairy Project
This is a project of the Mothers Union led by the M.u President Mama Esther Gichere. Our milk is unadulterated, no chemicals added, no additives, just pure from the cow. The Mothers Union department has also introduced the realing of daily goats in the same farm. We have 4 daily goats which we also hope that by the end of this financial year they will be producing good amounts of milk for sale. Goat milk is highly nutritious especially for children and expectant mothers. Bookings are welcome for this rare commodity.
Poultry farming
The Mothers Union department has started a poultry project in the same farm. This project is now one month old. There are Kienyenji chicken both layers and broilers. The eggs are available for sale to our Churches and Parishes when they have occasions. Bookings can be done through the Mothers Union office. The Mothers Union President desire to have a model farm at Rafiki where women groups and others can go and learn the best farming methods done Gods way.
