DSC_0008

A.C.K St.Michael and All angels started as an out station of Wethaga Pastorate by 1904. MacGregor arrived from Wethaga to Gathukeini on 17th May 1904.We have come in peace and we have good news. We have gifts like warm clothes, salt and sugar. We are just a few people incapable of fighting with many people as you are…and with those words…the team accompanying Mac Gregor was allowed to proceed to Gathukeini. They set up a mission station there. Later on, a missionary by the name Rev Dr.Endward Clarke was sent to mann the out station. He arrived there on 19th November 1913.It then developed into a Mission centre when the Rev Dr Clark moved there from Wethaga in 1913.The first Catechumen were baptised on 24th October 1915.The Church expanded exponentially and became a Pastorate soon after. Rev Dr. Clark served there from 1913-1926. Since then the Parish has grown from a small outstation into a Parish, Deanary and currently an Archdeaconry. Bishop Obadiah Kariuki served there on his first posting in 1942_1943.Other notable Clergymen who who served this historic Church and became Bishops are: Bishop Ladan Kamau 1951, Bishop Mahiani 1959, Ass.Bishop Ngaruiya 1957 and Bishop Timothy Gichere 2003-2004. The late Rev.Canon Felix Nyoro comes from this historic Church. The Church has a primary and secondary school and a Dispensary. After many years of being a Parish with many outstations, today the historic Church is a single Church Parish.
