St. paul's kiruri
St. Paul’s church Kiruri was established in 1906 as a mud structure with dry banana fibers as roofing. The foundation stone of the permanent church was laid in 1938 by Rev. Canon Paul Mbatia one of the earliest convents to Christianity and the first kikuyu native to be ordained in the Anglican church of Kenya. The church was consecrated on 26th Sep 1939 by the Bishop of Mombasa Rt. Rev. R. Crabbe. The church has developed over the years birthing many other churches and parishes. This is one of the only two Churches in the whole Diocese whose foundation stone was laid by a Clergyman and coincidentally the same Rev. Canon Paul Mbatia laid the foundation stone for this and Muguru Church.
